'Nail'-ed it!!!

So on a recent weekend trip to Maine with my bestie Lane, I looked down at her toes and saw LACE print nails.

She immediately launched into this story about how great this Sally Hanson nail strips are--that they have tons of fun prints, stay on a long time, and are reasonably priced. So I went out today and bought myself some...I purchased FISHNET (since my friend Jeri is having her bachelorette tomorrow and its only appropriate!!!)

My nails look just like the picture above (a little shorter of course), and it was SO easy!!! Ladies, you have to try these nail strips! They cost $9.29, you get a bunch of strips (that will last you about 2 applications)...and it was worth every penny (at least so far!!)

I still want to try...

It's Mike. The micro pig. (Get it? Mike because of micro? I know, smart.)

I want to own him. And his boots.

Figured I'd share this tiny tidbit of info that I REALLY want a tiny pig to take for walks and buy tiny clothes for.

An Intimate Portrait: Cheryl

In honor of my amazing friend Cheryl's east coast visit, I've decided to dedicate this blog post to her! Cheryl and I met in PT school, where we quickly became close buddies. I absolutely adore my little yoga-loving, veggie-eating, nomad, "no worries" friend!

And I wanted to share some things about my friendship with Cheryl...

1. She is AMAZING at wall sits. Against Pat especially. Here she is, moments before victory...didn't even put the drink down!!!

Trish & Adam's Wedding Extravaganza

I spent the past 48 hours immersed in Trishy's wedding weekend...and while I don't have too many pics to share YET, I can share just a couple and share my fun, tiring, wonderful weekend with all of you!!!

We started on Friday for Mani/Pedis and then headed to the rehearsal. The First Unitarian Church in Providence has a pulpit that is 10-15 feet above the seats, and so no rehearsal would be complete without posing for pictures standing up at the podium and singing a few lines of "Don't Stop Believin" into the microphone. Classy as always.

Rehearsal dinner was at Eleven Forty Nine (amazing lobster ravioli, almost painful amounts of food which was too delicious to stop eating!) and then drinks at Harborside...here's Trishy and the "women's team" (that's what the Justice of the Peace called us) enjoying some drinks...

Went to bed because we had an early appointment at the salon for hair and makeup. Amazing job by Connie for our hair! Here's the bridesmaids after completing hair and makeup...

After that, things moved quickly. I don't have pics of getting dressed, and then we had formal pics and the ceremony, so I don't have any pictures of those either. The ceremony was short and sweet, and the reception at the Radisson was beautiful...once I get some more pics I'll post them...but for now here's a cell phone pic that Brian took of the four of us on his phone...

'What I'm Into' Thursday

In a blatant rip-off of my friend Angela's blog's "WILW-What I'm Loving Wednesday", I have decided to implement my own day...

"What I'm Into Thursday."

Ha. Whatev. I hope that's ok. Are there blog stealing rules?

1. The book "ROOM" by Emma Donoghue. Amazing, riveting. My book club had a three hour meeting to discuss this book! I'm sure the beer had something to do with the length of the meeting, but the book was incredible too.

2. Comfortable and fashionable ROCKETDOG shoes. Bought them for my bestie's rehearsal dinner TOMORROW night! DSW! Go get a deal ladies!

3. Mirasol's Cafe in Dartmouth. I've been into Mirasol's since I started at work in 2009. Two biggest reasons: CHIPPI and SEXY ASPARAGUS SANDWICH (grilled asparagus, smoked gouda, guac and tomatoes OMG). The most amazing stuff! Make the trip!

4. I have a lot of good qualities. My legs aren't one of them. Chubby and pale. Its bad news bears. They don't even tan well. It seemed hopeless then BAM!!! Airbrushed legs! Never let crappy legs ruin your outfit again. haha.

5. Biking along the Cape Cod Canal. The path is wide, the scenery is pretty. Something I really enjoy doing with my honey.

6. Tropical Smoothie Cafe

Try the Blimey Limey. They make it with splenda if you ask. Enough said.

7. DIY Network--real do-it-yourself aint always pretty and/or fun! And watching it is informative AND entertaining!

ORGONE?

So I had a great weekend. Fun, friends, MANY moose. I will recap the entire weekend at another time, suffice to say, it was a much needed few days away with a few favorite people.

I did want to touch upon one thing we DID do this weekend.

We went HERE.

THE WILHELM REICH MUSEUM

It sounds like some kind of Nazi death museum. And I won't lie, the whole way there we were saying "I will kill you" in German accents.

So funny story about Wilhelm. He was a scientist that worked with Freud. Long story short, he believed that the libido existed, and that it could be measured as "orgone" or energy on the surface of the body. He hypothesized (wait for it) that repeated inhibition of this "release" of energy (and yes, this "release" is exactly what you're thinking) would result in psychosis. One of his books is actually titled, "The Function of the Orgasm".

Not much in the hair department. But a smart guy. I mean come on, we all know that not getting any makes people nuts, but this guy actually tried to PROVE it!!!


There was some very interesting stuff happening in this museum.

The Lovers. VERY SCIENTIFIC.

We learned that Wilhelm was afraid of fire and took outdoor showers on his roof. (His roof was flat, which is rare for Maine since it snows a lot. This led to us saying, (In German Accents) "Wilhelm will not shovel the roof!"

Long story short, we spent several hours in this museum. We saw his private library. (There was a bed just off his office near the balcony...perhaps for "experiments?"

We went down to Reich's tomb. He had a cloud buster right next to him. That's right. He makes clouds and makes them go away with his CLOUD BUSTER.

I shit you not.

Or just visit his museum. You WON'T be disappointed!!! You can even stick your hand in a box that "traps" the orgone energy...it made my hand tingle for an hour!!!

Dream Vacations

On the eve of my exciting long weekend, I decided to think about my DREAM vacations. I love travel (not that I've done much of it--Guatemala and California are about the extent of my world travels)...but I really want to see new places in the future. And when people I know go cool places, I find myself constantly saying "I've ALWAYS wanted to go there!!!"

But these dream vacations are not created equal.

My imagined scenario is this: I win a fantasy worldwide vacation package. I can only visit 5 places. It really helps put into perspective the places I REALLY want to go. For example, always wanted to go to Australia. In my top 10--but didn't make the super amazing top 5.

Here we go...Dream vacation kicks off in...

#5... SOUTH AFRICA

Cape Town, wildlife, beaches, amazing in general, no big deal. Plus its AFRICA. Which makes it more awesome anyway.

#4...IRELAND

Rolling hills, village streets, castles, and beer. Sounds about right. Plus the accent is so cool.

#3...TAHITI
No explanation necessary. This is looks like a screen saver--this place actually exists!

#2...ICELAND
I've heard that Iceland is lush, green and amazing. Mountains, hot springs, heaven on Earth. And under-rated I think--I mean, everyone forgets about Iceland.

#1...GREECE

A lot of people go to Greece these days. (My BFF Trish is going in LESS than 2 weeks for her honeymoon, for example!) And there's a reason Greece is so popular...

It's badass.

Gorgeous. Warm. Amazing. With history and mystery.

And great food.

And tan, gorgeous people.

Greece is to countries what Chuck Norris is to action heroes. Enough said.
