Day 12: How I found out about blogs/Why I made one

Well, I've always known about blogs. Didn't know anyone WITH a blog until my friend Angela (who moves back to Kansas--BOO) made reading her blog tons of fun!

Then, last year, I wrote my first blog about online dating. It had six entries and ended when I met my current boyfriend.

So I decided that writing a blog about being in my late twenties would help me get my head around being so old. And so far, its a good thing!

Day 10: Songs that I Listen to when I'm....

I absolutely LOVE music and this is a fun post for me because I definitely connect songs with emotion. Happy, Sad, Hyper, Bored, Mad...there are so many others! But I can start with these...

Day 9: Something I'm Proud Of

In the past few days I am proud of myself for working out several times. I would like to look closer to this...

And NOT at all like this...



In reality, I'm somewhere in between right now. But every work out is one step closer to the first picture. So I'm proud that the last few days are moving in the right direction.

Days 7 & 8: Big Impact & Goals for This Month

Ok, so I skipped a day.

But JUST one. I'm back in the saddle. EVERY day is tough!

So...in honor of this weekend (4th of July and my first anniversary), my picture of something that has a big impact on me will be from this weekends events.

CAUTION: Shameless Mushy-ness and Nostalgia Ahead

On the Jetty @ Plymouth Waterfront, following lobsters on the water. First picture we took together as a couple was a year ago, on this jetty.

So right now, this moment, my first anniversary has a huge impact on me. I've only been in love a couple of times, and finding this relationship has made me very happy. I am living in the moment and enjoying my time with a great guy!

As for Short Term Goals for this month...

1) Exercise More

Trish is getting married in 6 weeks. There is a non-stretch satin dress with my name on it. I'd like to look as good as possible! Also, I really want to prioritize my health these days, and I've done a pretty good job this weekend (not counting the mini bottles of wine that just came home from the store! Brian is not helping in that department---but I LOVE surprise wine!)

2) Positive Attitude

I've been somewhat stressed over the last month or two. And on the days that I smile and keep it all in perspective, I am the happiest. So that's what I'm going to try to do.

3) Plan a long weekend away

I. Need. A. Vacation.

There's a million things I'd like to do, but for this month alone, that should be enough!

Day 6: Favorite SuperHero and Why

Let me be upfront here. I don't give a crap about superheroes.

It's all the same to me. So picking a favorite is challenging.

So I decided to create a grading ruberic. 4 categories. 3 contestants. One winner.

1) Best Outfit
2) Most Interesting Back-Story
3) Most Efficient Criminal Killing Skills
4) Hottest Female Counterpart

And CLEARLY the contestants are the BIG 3. The trifecta of Superhero power.

I know there are others, but let's be real--these are the CLASSIC heroes that everyone knows and loves!

LET THE COMPETITION BEGIN:

1. Best Outfit: What's less appealing than black speedo shorts? RED spandex anything. Therefore, Batman is a clear winner here, based entirely on the color of his outfit. Spiderman is second, because I hate capes as well, and superman has BOTH a red cape and stupid red hot pants.

2. Best Backstory: Peter Parker is kind of a soft character for me. I'm not loving him. Clark Kent can seriously sneak out of work that easily and often and not get noticed? Plus, doesn't red spandex show through work shirts? Batman is the most realistic in one way---that he is secretive, Bruce Wayne is a badass all on his own, and that his gadgets are man-made. That being said, shouldn't a superhero be SUPER on his own? Without gadgets? So this one is a toss up. I'm torn between my love for the realistic nature of Batman and my feelings that Superheroes should NOT be realistic, by definition. TIE.

3. Best Killing Abilities: Because Batman uses lots of Gadgets, I'm going to eliminate him here. Without his gadgets he's just an average guy of above average strength. So you wouldn't want to meet him in a bar fight, but is that SUPERHERO material? I guess it depends on what you value: Flying or Climbing Buildings. There is something cool about being able to creep up the sides of buildings and swing from them. BUT ultimately, you can't beat flying right? Point: Superman.

4. Hottest Female Counterpart: I'm going to randomly select who I consider the "female counterpart" (since there have been many over the years for all of these superheroes) based on what comes to mind first. For Superman, I choose Teri Hatcher from "Lois and Clark" because I used to watch that show all the time. For SpiderMan, Kirsten Dunst. Batman is more challenging, but ultimately I think you have to go with Kim Basinger because she is the ORIGINAL. You don't have to be a heterosexual man to see that Kirsten is a bit out of her league here. And it comes down to personal preference: so I'm going to win this one for the blondes: WINNER: KIM, therefore, WINNER: BATMAN.

So there you have it, BATMAN wins. But who really gives a crap anyway?

Day 5: Picture of a Place I've Been

As anyone who knows me is aware, I am OBSESSED with Guatemala.

The photo above is taken in San Pedro la Laguna, on Lake Atitlan Guatemala. The two best vacations I have ever taken were to this place...I love it!

That being said...I need to go somewhere else. so that Guatemala isn't the only interesting place I've ever been.
