An Attempt at Being Legit, DAY ONE

Yo.

I'm fairly certain that my blog has like one follower (my friend Rachael, who still checks the blog and waits for new posts). This is the second blog that I've started and abandoned. I really do enjoy blogging, which is the ironic thing.

So I'm giving this a go. The 30 posts in 30 days challenge. (Idea and topics stolen from many other people and are not in any way my original idea.)

The 30 Day Challenge is as follows:

Day 1- A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself.

Day 2 - The meaning behind your blog name.

Day 3 -A picture of you and your friends. (GET READY LADIES)

Day 4 - A habit that you wish you didn't have.

Day 5 - A picture of somewhere you've been.

Day 6 - Your favorite Superhero and why.

Day 7 - A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you.

Day 8 - Short term goals for this month and why.

Day 9 - Something you're proud of in the past few days.

Day 10 - Songs you listen to when you are happy, sad, bored, hyper, mad.

Day 11 - Another picture of you and your friends.

Day 12 - How you found out about blogs and why you made one.

Day 13 - A letter to someone who has hurt you recently.

Day 14 - A picture of you and your family.

Day 15 - Put your iPod on shuffle; first 10 songs that play.

Day 16 - Another picture of yourself.

Day 17 - Someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why.

Day 18 - Plans/Dreams/Goals you have.

Day 19 - Nicknames you have; why do you have them?

Day 20 - Someone you see yourself marrying/being with in the future.

Day 21 - A picture of something that makes you happy.

Day 22 - What makes you different from everyone else?

Day 23 - Something you crave a lot.

Day 24 - A letter to your parents.

Day 25 - What I would find in your purse.

Day 26 - What you think about your friends.

Day 27 - Why are you doing this 30 day challenge?

Day 28 - A picture of you in the last year and now, how have you changed since then?

Day 29 - In this past month what have you learned?

Day 30 - Who are you?

So I'm going to start DAY ONE right now.

A Recent Photo of Myself:

15 Interesting (or at least Accurate) Facts About Me:

1. I am born March 20th, the cusp of Pisces/Aries, and I choose which horoscope I read depending on what I want to hear that day.

2. When I was 17 I used to iron my hair with an ACTUAL iron. I even taught my brother to do it for me.

3. I am named after my great grandmother. Or at least, that's what my dad claims. My mom says I'm named after Laura on Little House on the Prairie. I am still convinced that I'm actually named after Laura from General Hospital (which I believe had more of an impact on my mom in the 80's than any of the other options). And as a side note, Laura is actually my favorite name of all time, so I'm lucky its mine.

4. I have never held or fired a gun.

5. When I want to smell nice for myself, I wear uber-expensive Chanel Mademoiselle. When I want a man to compliment me, I wear $15 GAP Blue perfume, because that's what they like best. Try it, you will not be disappointed. When I was single I kept a mini bottle in my purse.

6. I refuse to own a GPS or have internet on my phone because I think both of those things are turning humans into machine-dependent drones.

7. A continuation of #6 above: I have a habit of being resistant to both hype and change, and will probably have both a GPS and internet on my phone within the year, when I change my mind.

8. The only time in my life I have ever smoked pot is sitting on a tree stump in Guatemala with some dude from Montreal named Michel. If you're gonna do it, do it big. (I promise there were other people there, it was not just me and the aforementioned Canadian dude by ourselves.)

9. I work with kids all day, and I am terrified of being a bad mother.

10. If someone gave me an option; donate a kidney or shave your head, it would take me at least 24 hours to decide.

11. When I decide to invest in a friendship, it is incredibly painful for me if I lose it.

12. I hate wearing high heels. They're stupid. (But they look nice.)

13. I am in a book club. And I'm not embarrassed.

14. I met my boyfriend on eHarmony. (Pause for reaction.) I know, the commercials are strange--everlasting love is playing in the background, the couples look related and act like twins and its weird...but I'm incredibly happy. Hard to believe, but it was a big step for me to admit that I wanted a partner and a relationship. It was difficult to take the wall down and realize that its not desperate or weak to admit to yourself that you're ready to be in a relationship. And while online dating CERTAINLY is not for everyone, it bothers me when people judge the way I've chosen to meet someone. I feel as though I made a conscious decision to be happy--to change my life and find what I want--and if someone wants to judge that its probably due to an insecurity on their part.

15. I hate pea soup. Like, want it dead hate it.

So, that's a start. See you tomorrow! This blog is going to get some action this month. Get pumped, Rachael!
